Meet Robert.

Robert Hunter is a community leader and grassroots organizer running for State Representative in House District 28. His work has consistently focused on building stronger, more connected communities through local engagement and public service.

He currently serves as Vice Chair of Minority Affairs for Etowah County and has been an active Youth Caucus member within the State Executive Committee for the past six years.

As a steering committee member with STAY (Stay Together Appalachian Youth), Robert has led youth organizing efforts and managed a six-figure budget over the past two years.

Robert ran the Free Store in Gadsden for two years and organized Gadsden Pride for three consecutive years. He volunteers regularly at his local library and was a founding member of his city’s inaugural Human Relations Committee.

He also serves on the Dream Team of BAYR (Black Autonomous Youth Resistance) and contributes to the Black Remembrance podcast as a narrative organizer, helping uplift community voices.

An Alabama native and democratic socialist, Robert’s work is rooted in the belief that communities should have a direct voice in the decisions that affect their lives.

Robert’s goals as State Representative center on transparency, accessibility, and community empowerment. He is committed to ensuring residents have better access to local resources, strengthening communication between constituents and their elected officials, and creating meaningful opportunities for public input on legislation.
